The New Look Range Rover!.

THE eagerly awaited fourth generation Range Rover has finally been launched, with its maker boasting of the car’s hi-tech construction, low weight and vastly improved luxury.

This all-new model is aimed squarely at the latest breed of high-end premium cars as Land Rover aims to broaden the car’s appeal beyond the traditional premium 4x4 market.
However, this fourth-gen Range Rover hasn’t abandoned its off-roading roots. In fact, it’s claimed to be better than ever thanks to a redesigned air suspension system, a new driver operated Terrain Response control and a greatly increased maximum wading depth.

In a bid to reduce running costs and improve agility, the car’s aluminuim body is considerably lighter than the old car’s steel shell. Overall, the car is 420kg lighter than the outgoing model. And although a little larger than before, the big news is the extra 40mm between the wheels to boost rear cabin space.
Under the skin, the Range Rover boasts a new eight-speed auto gearbox and electric power steering, while occupants are greeted by a plush new cabin borrowing styling cues from its smaller, recently launched and ultra successful Evoque.
Power for the new Range Rover will come from V6 and V8 diesel engines plus a supercharged V8 petrol unit. A clear indication that the car’s weight loss programme is no gimmick is the introduction of the V6 diesel, which has allowed the big 4x4 to dip under the magic 200g/km CO2 barrier for the first time.
Not every owner is expected to be interested in saving the pennies though, and for those people Land Rover has lined up a comprehensive personalisation scheme, with plenty of potential to adapt both the exterior and interior to individual tastes.
Order books are open now ahead of the car’s early 2013 showroom appearance, with prices starting at £71,295 for the lead-in V6 diesel and rising to £98,395 for the range-topping supercharged petrol model.
